I am from Connecticut and ever since I can remember I have been involved in some kind of sport. I started playing softball when I was about 8 years old. I slowly moved up through the leagues, from farm league to little league, and eventually to the all-star team. I loved it, but in middle school I decided that I wanted to run cross country. I enjoyed running and in 8th grade I also was in the volleyball club who played after school in the fall. During the summer, I did a learn to row program where we were taught how to row and what was involved in the sport, and rowed three mornings a week for two weeks.

I decided that I wanted to try out for the volleyball team though going into my freshman year. I made the team and as a freshman and although I worked very hard and trained intensely,  I pretty much sucked at the rotations. I liked the sport, but I didn't love it. I finished out the season knowing that I was going to join the rowing team in the spring.

After that, it was all uphill. I loved rowing, and was so excited when we got to travel to regatta's on the weekends with friends. In my first post, you can read about how I got more into rowing and how it really morphed my life to the point I am at now.
